To help bolster enrollment in our less commonly taught languages (LCTLs) and Advanced language courses, the CLC is piloting ways to share language classes with students at partner institutions. This quarter, UChicago students in Georgian were joined by three classmates at other institutions—one from Penn and two from UI-UC—via videoconferencing technology. In this presentation, Nick Swinehart (CLC multimedia specialist) and Tami Wysocki-Niimi (Georgian lecturer) will discuss the challenges that arise when sharing courses and demonstrate the technology used in the pilot project. Tami and Nick will also discuss ways the CLC will be going forward with shared courses in the future.
